PRINCETON, N.J. — The Dow Jones News Fund has trained 84 undergraduate and graduate students for prestigious, paid internships this summer as news, multimedia and sports copy editors and as business reporters at newspapers, newswires, online publications and magazines nationwide. The interns were selected from among 700 applicants.

“The quality of the interns we are able to place at news organizations is testimony to the attraction of journalism and the effectiveness of journalism education. The residency directors who train these students for their internships are working to ensure journalistic excellence in the future,” said Rich Holden, executive director.

Richard J. Levine, president of the Fund’s board of directors, said, “Amid all the concerns about the future of quality journalism in the United States, the continuing strength of the News Fund programs is reassuring.”

DJNF summer internship programs, begun in 1960, feature seven training sites each May and June. Interns work a minimum of 10 weeks for salaries starting at $350 per week. Those returning to college receive $1,000 scholarships.

The interns, their training programs, universities and summer news organization are listed.
